Senior Semi-Finals 2017

Our Men's Ladies & Mixed Semi-Finals where held in Leo Casey park Ballymahon on the 13th of August. First game was scheduled for 11:00 which brought Breaffy Ladies who had dominated all year, against Cuchulainn Carlow. This game set a standard of play that was going to be hard for the rest to follow, nothing separated either club till the fourth innings when the Mayo side took the lead until the 6th. Cuchulainn's Ann Marie caught the winning ball and closed home base to finish the game 19-16 and secured her team their first ever All Ireland final.

Mixed competition was next with old rivals The Heath V Limekiln. Laois natives hit hard from the start that shook the Dubs, however Limekiln's James Dillon hit a homer to bring them back to life but this was matched with an out of the park hit from The Heaths James Kavanagh. Game finished 20-10 special mention to Aoife Boyle we wish you a speedy recovery.

Men's Semi-Final 1 was next which paired two Dublin teams against each other. This was Na Fianna's first ever Semi-Final which Limekiln took full advantage of, again James Dillon scored two homers followed by team mate Eddie Healy. However the North side never gave up placing hits in spaces Limekiln couldn't fill. Game ended 43-6

Breaffy and Bagenalstown took center stage next. The Mayo side went ahead very early on with smart hitting and great fielding from Colm Jordan & Michelle Hopkins. The score was 11-1 at one point, most clubs would have gave up but something sparked in the Carlow side and they start playing Rounders! The Clarke sisters started this off with Nicola's powerful pitching & Elaine hitting a launcher ball bringing in two runs. Top of the 7th draw game 13-13, Breaffy managed to score three runs and hold the Town scoreless securing the Mayo clubs first Final in over two decades.

Next game was a replay from last years Ladies final, Limekiln against Glynn/Barntown. Barntown had revenge on their minds from the preliminary rounds, this was a very close encounter until the 5th when Wexford's captain Emma Reddy hit a smashing ball up the 3rd base line bringing three scores in. Stand out player of the game and maybe all games was Dublin's Laura Donnelly who was all over the pitch making more catches than any other player male or female. result 20-12

Final game brought us Carrickmacross V The Heath, tensions where high at the start of this match. Oran Kiernan & Donnagh Treacy put on spectacular performances on the field. The Heath ran out eventual winners 19-9.

We now set our sights on the 27th of August for our All Ireland Finals in Abbottstown Dublin.
