Interprovincials 2018

Our 2018 season kicked off on Sunday, March 25th. Athlone Regional Sports Center hosted this years Interprovincial tournament.

The first Semi Final seen Ulster V Leinster, Ulster started very strong keeping Leinster scoreless till the the 3rd innings, mainly due to the fantastic pitching from Cavan's Daryl Dolan, who was involved in the first 9 outs for the Ulster side. This all changed when Leinster captain Eddie Healy (Dublin) scored a home run in the 4th, which lit a spark in his squad that resulted in 11 runs being scored, kepping the Ulster side scoreless, Game finished 14-3.

Our next Semi Final brought us last years runner up Munster, taking on a strong Connacht side. Munster where missing some key players from last year, resulting in a one sided game. However Munster showed great skill in batting & used it all as training for the coming season.

The Final was now set, Leinster V Connacht, Leinster's first batter was caught out by Mayo's Paula Lennahan, this set the tone for the game ahead, hard hitting & sharp fielding from both panels, had spectators applauding for the 55 minute game. Connachts Colm Jordan had a monster hit in the 3rd innings along with Leinsters Donnagh Treacy in the 4th. Outstanding catching from Breaffys Jamie & Carlows Matty Dowling gave us a preview of what to expect this year.
