Championship Week 6
Game week six was 14 days of home runs and wet weather. It started of with mixed competition, on the 2nd of June, Bagenalstown traveled to The Heath. Brilliant catching from the towns Seamie Kenny & Laois Donnagh Treacy. The Heath continued their winning streak winning the game 20-6
On the bank holiday Sunday we were jam packed in Tymon park. First up was an all Dublin fixture in Ladies Greenhills V Na Fianna. The home team put on a dominant performance beating Na Fianna 26-5 with 3 battings in hand.
Next up was the first of 2 mixed fixtures for the day. West Meaths Ballinagore took on the home teams Limekiln. A great sporting game took place. Ballinagore improving in every game however they could not stop Dubliners Adam Riordan & James Dillon from scoring home runs! Match finished 17-6
Following this in their second round fixtures Limekiln men played Na Fianna. Again Limekiln's James Dillon stood out from all players during this game hitting 3 massive homers, along with his team mate Eddie Healy scoring one as well.
Eagles V Na Fianna was up next in the last mixed match set for the day, Eagles hit hard from the start with Ollie Fitzsimons & Gary Reilly scoring homers in the first innings. Na Fianna could not recover from this, choosing to bat out from the second innings. Eagles had a comfortable win 36-6.
Up in Roscommon St.Croans Ladies faced Breaffy. The Mayo side with a great team effort and still going undefeated, beating Croans 27-3.
The following day in Ladies competitions we headed down south to Glynn/Barntown, with the Wexford natives taking on Clonaslee. The report that was given was just simply a wash out and not a good day to play Rounders. Game ended 10-1 to last years champions who had 4 battings left. Barntown continuing to dominate the Ladies division.
On the 11th June we had 3 Ladies fixtures taking place in Roscommon Gaels GAA grounds.
Again another day full of rain, first up Cuchulainn V Gaels. Carlows Chantelle Cole was on fire in the first innings making two amazing catches, Fiona Abbeys scored two home run's aswell. 18-1 was the score after the first innings & with the rain getting heavier the Roscommon Ladies batted out the remaining innings finishing the game 18-7
Gaels V Limekiln was next. This game was very similar to the last one. Stand out play was Limekiln's Laura Donnelly's home run. Score ended 16-4.
Ml.Glaveys against Limekiln was the last match of game week 6. With the weather not easing at all and spirits not very high! This game was very lackluster for most players except Glaveys Gretta Davis who never gave up cheering her team on. final result 28-5 to the Dublin side.
